Difference between Legal Information and Legal Advice

Legal information explains the law and the legal system in general terms. The information is not tailored to a specific case. Legal advice applies the law, including statute and case law and legal principles to a particular situation.

Legal advice requires knowledge of and careful analysis of the law and specific facts. Persons not licensed to practice law who give legal advice are participating in the unauthorized practice of law and are subject to penalties under U.K Business & Professions Code = 6126.
